Happy Holiday Jeff. .... to you and the boss. We'll be barbequeing steaks up here. If you're on the deck and smell something good, wave at us!

I am negotiating with "the boss" for a glass of Merlot with the meatless spagetti tonight. [I'd rather try and squeeze points from Brady.]

Nonetheless "quote of the weekend" and "only quote of the weekend" appear congruent, thus worth somewhat less than a daily Bawldy. ;-)

Wrightwood (zip 92397) has been my canary in the coal mine for for decades. I won't regain my sunny disposition until they start singing.

Quote of the weekend: I’d say the lesson to take away is product supply demand ultimately drives everything else. Instead of my Nobel I’ll settle for this here near beer.

"Yard sale" and "sale of yards" update from theSanBerdoo Mtns.

Sold 4 mice, 2 keyboards and 20 DVDs. $86. Fun, especially haggling with 5 fewer digits than in the realworld™.

The market in this small community is shifting. There is no investment activity. A lot of people are left with "assets" they never intended to maintain for a long time. A bunch of amateurs were in recent years trading houses that they called "vacation homes" or "ski cabins" and they are suddenly turning into rental properties. The asking rental prices are split in two. The real rentals are 2/3rds the price what the accidental landlords are asking. Unfortunately there's no demand in a world of $4 gas.

I'd say the lesson to take away is product supply demand ultimately drives everything else. Instead of my Nobel I'll settle for this here near beer. Cheers.

As I type I am on the porch of our mountain fortress of real estate in the San Bernardino Mtns. Decaf, laptop and a small yard sale. Up here the sales are a social event. The neighbors trade their ummm "stuff" and visit. I'm actually making money, it's the American Way. Just the thing for Labor Day. I recently bought several DVD collections in bulk from people, $1.80 to $2.70 per disc. Kept the ones I wanted and now have the duplicates out for individual sale. Getting $4 and $5 each. You could say I made my money on the front end but that would seem to much like "talking shop" on such a fine weekend. Enjoy yourselves.
