With Much Affection and Sadness

This is deeply personal.

As a blogger it’s possible, I was surprised to learn, to make friends with other’s in your industry all over the country — and sometimes never meet them in person. Though I have indeed met many of them, and will surely meet more as time passes, there are some for which I may never have the pleasure.

So far, I’ve not met Lani (pronounced Lonnie) Anglin and her husband, Benn. However, after trading many long emails, and a few phone conversations, Lani has become someone for whom I harbor much respect, admiration, and affection.

Yesterday, she lost Aaron, her 24 year old little brother. He died in a car accident — on his way to her house.

His wife Aleisha, and their two babies were in the car with him. Thank the Lord, though injured, they are in good condition in a local Austin hospital. All three are expected to be released in a day or two.

His daughters are one year old — this week — and six weeks old. Aleisha is 25.

Within hours of hearing of the death of this young man, the real estate blogging community has risen up as one, from coast to coast, in order to support this young widow with two infants, and a job as an assistant to a local optometrist. She’s now facing some challenges not meant to be faced by 25 year old mothers.

Unfortunately, her beloved husband passed away without life insurance. Her financial needs, as you might surmise, are both more than she can possibly handle — immediate — and will be ongoing.

The Green Ribbon icon is acting as a link sending you to a site, BloodhoundBlog, for which I’m a contributing writer, allowing you to help out — if that’s what you would like to do.

This family is close, and fiercely loving, but in the last few weeks have been tested by the death of Lani’s Grandpa — and now this.

Aaron Anglin and his daughters

I would, from my heart of hearts, be forever in your debt, if you would remember Aaron’s wife and baby daughters in your prayers. Lani and Benn, but especially Aleisha, desperately need them. Strength is what is called for here, and your prayers will surely provide it.

God Bless Aaron — his family — and all those who in any way offer their spiritual support.

Thank you for allowing me to share this with you. My heart is hurting for Lani, Benn, and their devastated family.

The other thing I wanted to say is: Thank you so much for getting Liz Strauss involved. You’re like a toasted marshmallow: Singed and crusty on the outside, sweet and gooey on the inside.
